2015 Favorites!!

I can't believe it's New Years Eve already.. This year has gone by so unbelievably fast!! 2015 was a great year but I feel like 2016 is going to just get better and better. Here's a list of my favorite things in 2015:

Movies

  • Jurassic World- last year I had made a statement that it was the year of Chris Pratt. I was wrong, this is the year that Chris Pratt became a bonafide movie star. Making more money than any film this year (before Star Wars came out) this was just a great installment to the franchise.

  • The Duff- This movie was a wild card for me, because it wasn't so mainstream. It is a hilarious and cute movie that really surprised me

  • Cinderella- OMG. Lily James was so pretty!! From her clothes to her hair and makeup. It was just such a good retelling of a well known story.

  • The Age Of Adaline- This was Blake's best role hands down. This was one of my favorites this year the story was so unique and good.

  • Maze Runner: Scorch Trials- So much better than the first one. So suspenseful where your on the edge of your seat.

  • The Night Before- a new Christmas classic. Extremely funny.

  • Star Wars- for someone who has never seen a Star Wars movie I loved it. Daisy Ridley killed it and she had some big shoes to fill.

  • Mad Max- This movie is bad ass. Action packed literally from start to finish. Visually stunning

  • Pitch Perfect 2- No brainer. I love musicals and I love pitch perfect.
TV

  • Jane The Virgin- I watched this in 2014 but it wasn't a favorite, until Jane and Rafael got together. And Rogelio is the man. I adore this show

  • Empire- Cookie Lyons. If you are not watching this you should..so much delicious drama.

  • The Goldbergs- I love the 80's. The goldbergs are the epitome of that decade. The family is perfect. Hilarious.

  • Izombie- binged watched this on Netflix. Obsessed. Huge Veronica Mars fan and it's perfect.

  • Rick and Morty- my fiancĂ© made me watch this show one day and I really love it. It's so stupid that it's hilarious. Awaiting season 3.

  • Key and Peele- so funny and really sad it's over with. The airplane skit kills me every time.

  • Arrow- recently just got back into Arrow just because there's so many crossovers with The Flash. It's very good

  • Quantico- this is a new show of the fall season and it drives me nuts haha but it's just so good cause you suspect everyone is shady.
 Music

  • The Weeknd- he is Michael Jackson of our generation. He is so talented and puts out amazing songs. Worth it is one of the best songs of this year and Can't Feel My Face one of my favorite songs right now. In the Night is so deliciously 80's throwback. I can't wait to see what he does next.

  • Adele- Hello it's Me.. Adele disappeared for a while and she came back and just smashed all the records.

  • Selena Gomez- I downloaded Revival. I think it's amazing, albeit very moody but there's a handful of songs you can dance to. Very Impowering. Same Old Love,Hands To Myself, Camouflage and Nobody are my favorites off the album.

  • Justin Bieber- I hate Justin but he puts out really good music. I hate admitting I like it.

  • Carrie Underwood- Storyteller is so good!!!

  • Nick Jonas- cmon He only gets better and better every year. Chains. Jealous. Levels.

  • Ellie Goulding- I love her! Love Me Like You do was everything. Outside. On My Mind. She makes really good music choices.

  • Walk The Moon- Shut Up and Dance. The ultimate of 80's throwback music

  • Fifth Harmony- I've watched these girls from the beginning and I love their music. Worth It was the song that made them.

  • Little Mix- Black Magic. I can't wait to hear more from these girls
Honorable mentions:
•Demi Lovato- Confident was another great cd. Stone Cold is incredible.

•Macklemore and Ryan Lewis- Cause Downtown!!!!

 Style
  • Selena Gomez
Selena's style is so effortlessly chic and she's not afraid to take risks in the name of fashion.
  • Emma Stone
What I love about Emma is she makes the old Hollywood look, look so youthful and current.
  • JLO
This is J. Lo and she slays the world. She doesn't even have to try.
  • Lupita Nyong'o
She is so daring. I love seeing what she will wear next.
  • Gigi Hadid
She is just so cool. She works everything she wears.

Honorable Mention: Lily James

Cause Baby Now We Got Bad Blood

You already know that I am a Taylor Swift fan. So for Taylor's b-day which was on December 13th, I did a look inspired by one of her many makeup looks in her music video Bad Blood. This look was inspired by the first look in the video where she is laying on the white table. I loved how blue was so smoky in the look and I got to use my new Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette!! I also used a Colour Pop shadow from their Blitzed holiday kit called Fan Girl, which is a cool toned violet gray but I loved the sparkles it added to the look.

Here's the look:

I ordered three of the LA Splash liquid lipsticks because they were all named after Disney characters and I was all about it. So I bought Evil Queen. Ariel and Aurora. Urban Decay X Gwen Stefani Palette

I promise next year I will be better at including swatches and giving in depth reviews on products..

So Gwen Stefani collaborated with Urban Decay Cosmetics and  they created this glorious palette. Can we talk about the packaging? I think the packaging alone this product is worth buying, and at first I saw the colors and I have to say I was underwhelmed with the color choices, because being familiar with Gwen, I thought she'd have some awesome and unique shades and it turned out to be a pretty neutral looking palette with a few pops of color here and there. I thought even though the packaging was amazing I could possibly pass on this one. Then lo and behold Leesha from XSparkage did a review on the palette and she is a fair complected lady like myself and she sold me on it, hook line and sinker. So I bought it. I was very happy with my purchase because not only did I love the shadows, I also got a sampler of her lip sticks that are going to be released in the Spring.

I really love how this look turned out. I think Zone is one of my favorite transition shades in the palette and I paired it with Bee Sting which a gorgeous bright turquoise creme liner from Colour Pop and I thought for lips why not a brown color? I picked Mosh Pit also from the Back To Cool set from Colour Pop and it's a rosy matte brown color, also another one of my favorites.

  • Base- Cargo HD Picture Pefect

No Shame in Baewatching..

I've already got a Bae so no watching for me :)  Seriously though, I hate that word Bae. It almost makes me cringe as much as people saying totes adorbs. blech. lol   I wish the name of the lip stick was Baywatch because that's what it's named after, but it was prob a copyright issue so I get it. It's one of the stand out shades for me in the Colour Pop Back to Cool set, with a matte finish it's a beautiful dusty rose. This look packs on the purple using both of my ABH palettes and Colour Pop creme gel liner No Shame, which is a black/purple shade that goes perfectly.

Glitter, Glitterati

Well Colour Pop did it again.. they came out with another fabulous collection!  Boogie Nights is their winter collection and consists of 9 super shock shadows, 3 lippie stix, 3 ultra mattes, and 2 highlights. Glitterati being one of my favorites out of the bunch, because I love that sparkle. It's a silver shade with tons of gold glitter. It's definitely a shade to boogie in and an awesome shade for New Years Eve.. which is in 2 days.. what??!!  I'm also wearing Silk in this look, which again is part of the new collection which is a matte burgundy shade.  I paired if with one of my favorite palettes (still) from Anastasia Beverly Hills, the Self Made palette.

Gwen Stefani The Voice Blinds Look

Now that this season of The Voice is over, let me tell you about my love affair with Gwen Stefani's makeup. I have quite a few makeup looks coming that were inspired by her and what her makeup artist has been doing to her face. Most of the looks are vintage 60's inspired and I really love how elegant and chic it looks. Gregory Arlt has been slaying it!  I also was first in line to get the Urban Decay X Gwen collab palette but I will tell you about that a little later...

This look was from the Blinds, it's simple but it's has a really cool cut crease, that makes it look like there's a double wing and they paired it with a glossy nude-pink lip.

Pur starry eyed Palette

During the Holidays I always look forward to the new makeup palettes and sets that we get into our store. Pur Cosmetics, or Pur Minerals came out with a really pretty palette called the Starry Eyed Palette which comes with 6 shadow shades and a mini version of their Volume Vixen mascara. I had been eyeing the palette for a while and once we had a spotlight showcasing the said product, I had to take the plunge, plus I really wanted to try the mascara as well..

The shadows are in the purple and burgundy family with 3 shimmers and 2 matte shades

For my lips I used a new product from The Bliss color line, it's called My Funny Honey, it's Lock and Key and it's an 8hr long lasting lipstick, in almost a plummy brown color. I really have been enjoying the formula, it's not too drying and sits comfortable on my lips.

This look was done using the Back to Cool and Forever Freshman collections from Colour Pop, which I am still loving! First of all Koosh, is a gorgeous metallic taupe, just stunning, named after the Koosh Balls from the 90's. Then I used another color from the set called As If,  it's not a special color, but it makes for a great matte transition shade From the Forever Freshman set I used Choker, on the lips which is a pretty unique cool-toned beige and I just love the Creme finishes I think more than anything.

My Hearts a Stereo

So being a baby of the 80's, yet in the late 80's I remember enough to be excited about Jem and The Holograms, the movie not so much, because let's face it wth is that representation? Anyways I was so excited when I heard Sephora was releasing a coinciding collection based off Jem and the Holograms, I was mostly excited for the liquid lipstick set, because really you can never have enough liquid lipsticks in your life... The palette was awesomely colorful too but after splurging on the Urban Decay Vice 4 palette I decided against it, the color story seemed similiar to the Vice 4.  The star of the show is Colour Pop super shock shadow in Stereo, which is a beautiful blackened burgundy color with pink shimmers which was part of the 90's throwback collection.

90210

I love a good 90's throwback, and a sucker for cheesy lifetime movies and I had been anticipating the new 90210 and Melrose Place movies. I was too young to watch the original 90210, but my mom used to watch Melrose Place, so I would watch that with her from time to time. However I was all over the updated version of 90210, and sad when it ended. I will forever ship Liam and Annie lol

90210 is one of the six colors in the Forever Freshman box from Colour Pop, it's kinda a unique color. They describe it as a taupey-gray color, but it sometimes it looks like an army green color with gold sparkles but the sparkles remind me of the sand nail polish from OPI, it might have been the Mariah collection, but that's totally what it reminds me of.

I paired it with Get Paid, which is a metallic rose gold liner, and I really like the combination! It's odd for sure, but I still like it. For Fall I have been loving dark bold lip colors so I used Colour Pop Ultra Matte in Chilly Chili which is a is a dark burgundy brown with a hint of plum to it. I have been really digging that color lately

Like I'm gonna lose you

I found myself dreaming in silver and gold.. sorry, I got caught up in the song. This look is inspired by Meghan Trainor and John Legends music video for their song "Like I'm gonna lose you"  The look is just so classic and pretty, perfect for the holiday season. I love this song and the music video is thoughtful and sweet and the message of the song is about not taking the ones you love for granted, so you should love them like it's your last day. A lesson more people these days should learn.

I used two Colour Pop super shock shadows, one from the 90's throwback collection called I Spy which is a nice matte orange-yellow, named after the children's books, which I so fondly remember looking through and trying to find the listed objects on the page and some of those were impossible to find lol  The other shadow I used was from the Forever Freshman collection, Crimper is a stand out shade from this set! It's a beautiful soft gold glitter, perfect for the holidays.

The lippie I used was from the Back To Cool set, TGIF, which is named after my favorite tv block in the 90's! TGIF is a beautiful matte brick red.
