4th of July look

So this look is obviously way overdue because it's almost August (but I am in no way trying to rush Summer..) I used a new face product which I really love! I was coming out of work and I decided to stop into Nordstrom's Off The Rack because they have some good deals every now and then on high end makeup.  I found Too Faced Air Puffed BB Creme in Snow Bunny for I think 7.50, so I thought yeah I could try this out, it also came with a little retractable blending brush which I tried using and I think it would be more time consuming than anything, so I decided to use one of my morphe blending brushes and it worked awesome!! One thing I really like is that with most foundations I tend to get really dry on the tip of my nose and it was so moisturizing that it didn't give me that problem.

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!! I wanted to do a traditional look with a bright red lippie, almost Pin-up style. Also my Colour Pop highlight looked like Stars on my face, it's gorgeous!!

Review:Cover Girl Out Last Stay Luminous Foundation

The previous post I did was on my overall thoughts about the Influenster box I received, one product in particular is the Cover Girl Out Last Stay Luminous foundation in the color 810 Classic Ivory.  The foundation color they chose for me was spot on and blended really nicely, this foundation is VERY dewy. I've applied this foundation multiple ways and I saw Kathleen Lights apply it with a Real Techniques Sculpting brush and I have to say that is my favorite way to apply the product as well.  The foundation on it's own is not only dewy but I feel it doesn't necessarily dry down on the skin and leaves a very tacky feeling when you touch your face. If you apply too much it feels like a mask on your face and can give up to medium-full coverage, but you can also sheer it out if you used less product.

This product would not be recommended for those with oily skin, even in the hottest temperatures I have dry/normal skin and it slid around on my face when I did sweat, so I can't imagine having oily skin and using this foundation. I tried using a powder with the foundation which worked better but you could still feel a slight tackiness when you touched the skin.

I also mixed it with Maybelline Better Skin and I mixed it with Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless and I feel it sat better on the skin when mixed with other finishes.

One cool thing about using this foundation is that you kinda get a built in highlighter when using the foundation so that is a nice feature because it does give that skin a glowly apperance.

I really wanted to like this foundation as a stand all product but I feel like it needs additional tweaking from other products to get the desired look.

Influenster I Do Vox Box

I was fortunate to receive a Vox Box from Influenster a few weeks ago. For those of you who aren't familiar with Influenster it's a free site where you can sign up and give reviews on certain products and sometimes you are lucky to receive a box full of products (usually themed boxes) and then you try out the products and write reviews. So I got the I Do Vox Box which was Wedding themed so I got all kinds of cool things perfect for wedding preparations.

Here's the box:

I received 7 items:
  • Neutrogena Fragrance Free Hand Cream
  • Nanoblur Primer
  • Sahale grab & go snacks in Classic Fruit and Nut Mix
  • Urgent RX Ache and Pain Relief to go in Lemon-Lime
  • Covergirl Stay Luminous Foundation in Classic Ivory
  • Covergirl Outlast Lip Stick in Vixen Violet
  • Skinny Girl Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Here's my thoughts:
  • Neutrogena puts out a lot of nice products and this is one of them, all you need is just a dab and it spreads enough for both hands. Leaves them moisturized and feeling smooth without feeling greasy. I like that it is also fragrance free, which is a nice alternative for those who work in professions who can't use the fragrance lotions. It was perfect because I had been dealing with a skin condition on my hands and I feel like it helped speed up the healing process.  10/10

  • Sahale Classic Fruit and Nut Blend was really good. It;s a nice snack to be able to take with you when you are out and about. My mom really loved them, in fact she ended up eating the rest of the packet. This is a great mix of sweet and salty with dried apples and craberries paired up with roasted almonds, cashews and pistachios. 9/10
  • Covergirl Stay Luminous Foundation- I will make a separate post on the cover girl products but in a nut shell  this is NOT for oily skin! I think they did a pretty good job choosing the right color for my skin. This stuff is very very dewy.. again I will have another post dedicated to Covergirl 6.5/10
  •  Covergirl Outlast Lip Stick in Vixen Violet-  It's a very comfortable hydrating formula but the color I don't think is ideal for my skin tone. This product also transfers everywhere so it's not a stay put lip stick. However it does stain the lips.  6/10
  • Nanoblur Primer by Indeed Labs- I like this product it's not something I would use on the regular because I do have a few fine lines, I think this product would benefit someone older than me but I did see some results when I used it. It's nice and light weight maybe I would try this as a primer when I'm having a fairly good skin day where foundation is not necessary #nanoblurred  8/10
  •  Urgent RX Ache and Pain Relief- Ok first of all I really like all natural products and I'm not on board with products that have caffeine in them because I have a sensitivity but it does work, just not something I would reach for. 6/10
  •  Skinny Girl Protein bars in Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough- This was disgusting! I LOVE Cookie Dough and this did not taste like cookie dough, and the texture was so gross.. I feel like the stevia really changed the taste but no I would not purchase this.. ever.   1/0
Again all of the products I received in this box was free and these opinions are 100% all my own

Colour Pop Mondays In Malibu: Gecko

Gecko is such a fun color because one would think it leans more toward a gray with pink shimmer but you could even see it as a baby blue, which is why in my brain I paired it up with a bright turquoise color. It would not only make a great lid color but you could also use it as a subtle highlight on the cheekbones as well. I also used a new foundation which I had received a sample of in my Sephora order because I needed new mascara, but it was a few shades too dark but it's the new Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Vanilla and I do like it, I do have some bumps from breakouts before that so in some spots its hard to apply evenly in some areas but I feel like the coverage is pretty nice but I would have to try maybe two shades lighter to give a better opinion of it.
I was feeling creative so I did a dual colored lip to give it a little more definition, so I did a darker color on the outside and just a pop of color on the inside.

Colour Pop Mondays in Malibu: Prickly Pear

I was on the fence about purchasing the new Colour Pop collection Mondays in Malibu, until I saw Youtuber Mrslolalynn swatching them in one of her videos and I fell in love with the colors and I was so excited to receive these in the mail because they are bea-u-tiful!!  So I have individual looks for each color and one of those colors that intrigued me the most was Prickly Pear, which is a plum color with gold/pink metallic sheen. So beautiful!! It's kinda random but it always makes me think of the song from the Jungle Book haha... but really all of the colors in the collection are amazing and worth checking out, I will feature a new one each post but I will be swatching products in the near future I'm just trying to organize and declutter my makeup currently but it's coming!!

CK Eternity Inspired Look

Another one of our Beauty Spotlights was for the Men's Calvin Klein Eternity fragrances, the one I decided to do a look on was the new CK Eternity Night, which has a dark taupe-gray bottle. I did a really simple smokey eye but with almost an ombre effect and a dark greige lip. This scent is really nice it has more of an aromatic woodsy smell. It opens up with spicy notes of coriander and paprika, but with a sweetness of plum. The middle notes of Clary Sage, Violet Leaf and Lavender and the base notes are woody with sandalwood, vetiver and ceder.

Lacoste Inspired Look

One of last weeks Beauty Spotlight was on the Lacoste L.12.12 Colognes, I wanted to do a fun look that incorporated all of the colors of each bottle together. a little history about the brand, it was created by Renee Lacoste who was a famous tennis player who nickname was the crocodile which is why there is the infamous crocodile on his products. the L.12.12 is the final style of the polo he created. The collection has red, black, white, blue, green and the newly introduced yellow fragrance. I had a lot of fun with this look!

Katy Perry: Cover Girl Look

When I first saw the new Cover Girl promotional photos with Katy Perry, I was just obsessed with it! I loved the teal liner and Katy Perry is just really knocking it out of the park with her looks recently. To recreate her look I used a matte Colour Pop shadow called Flux and mixed it with a darker teal color from my Wet N Wild 6 pan California Roll. I think the most frustrating thing when creating this look is finding the right lip color so in times like these I like to mix lip colors.

Britney Spears "Pretty Girls" Music Video Look

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love Britney Spears... She is my girl and a lot of people don't really care for her new single "Pretty Girls" feat. Iggy Azalea and I gotta say at first it was just kinda meh for me, but then I kept playing it and over time this song was definitely a grower. I guess I really love the 90's vibe of the song, it makes me so nostalgic because I grew up in the 90's, so I really have a soft spot for things reminiscent of the 90's lol    Then they released the music video, which is a reference to the movie Earth Girls are Easy so it's kinda a cheesy video but Britney looked flawless and it's pretty fun and don't get me started on her dance sequence which was everything.  Her makeup was very bronze and smokey with a peach lip which was pretty simple but really nice for Summer.
