2016 Favorites

I can't believe that there are only 2 more days left of 2016. What?! It seems like the years always fly by but honestly I feel like this year has flown by so much faster.. This is a list of all of my favorite things from 2016 ranging from Movies to Music to Television and even fashion.

MOVIES

Displaying IMG_0129.JPG

The Shallows- This movie was a total surprise for me. it's kinda a girly version of Jaws tbh..but Blake does an awesome job being in a movie with pretty much no cast.. It was a lot of fun and very suspenseful...I highly recommend this movie.

Secret Life of Pets- SO ADORABLE! After watching this it makes want to find my pet and give him a huge hug and never let him go...

Central Intelligence- The Rock and Kevin Hart should be in every movie together... I loved this movie so much! It's hilarious!

 Displaying IMG_0130.JPG

Deadpool- Well this is a no brainer,  I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was everything that you would want in a superhero movie. Ryan Reynolds is much better as a comedic actor.

Zootopia- Another adorable movie, that was just fun and had a lot of really funny moments

Dr Strange- This was a movie I knew really nothing about the characters or the concept of the movie and it was actually really awesome, loved it much more than Captain America Civil War.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them- I am not a Harry Potter fan but OMG this movie was wonderful and I loved the creatures, I really want a Nifler.

 NEW SHOWS

Displaying IMG_0131.JPG

This is Us- I will forever ship Mandy Moore and Milo Ventigimilia. This is the perfect family show and you feel for every character and you always have to have some kleenex on hand because you will cry during at least one point of an episode.

Fuller House- I was a huge fan of Full House and I was so excited to watch this on Netflix and it totally lived up to the expectations. I don't care if the Olsen twins never make an appearance, I just love the jokes about them not being there more. Also they did a great job with making you want DJ to be with both Steve and Matt and I am conflicted with who I want her to end up with..

Lethal Weapon- There is so much to love about this show.. It's not just a procedural show you really feel the bromance between Murtaugh and Riggs. I have never seen the original movies but man they have an awesome chemistry.

 Displaying IMG_0132.JPG
Superstore-Working in retail just makes me have an appreciation for this show. I think it's hilarious and totally something that would happen in real life. The store manager just kills me, he is great!

Younger- The return of Hilary Duff. I am obsessed with her character Kelsey. It's just one of those fun shows that is easy to follow and I am team Josh when it comes to who I want Liza to end up with

The Good Place- The premise for this show is so weird, but it's interesting enough to keep watching. Very funny and always leaves you wanting more and Kristen Bell.

Super Girl- I was watching Super girl before this year but it had moved from CBS to CW and it's gotten so much better! I completely ship Kara with Mon-El..Plus we get that awesome crossovers with Flash and Arrow. Looking forward to the musical crossover episode next year!

 Displaying IMG_0133.JPG

The Middle- I just got into watching this show this year and OMG why did I not take a chance on this show??! It is just so funny and quirky and this family is so ridiculous but lovable at the same time.

Honorable Mentions:

Zoo- We started watching Zoo during it's second season but we had caught up with Season 1 and it's such a freaky concept of all the animals striking back against the humans and the whole mystery was so intriguing.

No Tomorrow- This is a show that is such a Rom-com but is so adorable. It's sad because this show will probably only have one season, which is fine but I am enjoying the story and it just such a funny charming little show and I really hope every ties together in the end.

MUSIC

 Displaying IMG_0134.JPG

Bruno Mars- All year we never heard a peep out of Bruno Mars and then 24 Kt Magic came out and it is just so freaking good. You have to dance to the song once it's on, it's a requirement.

Chainsmokers- I used to hate the Chainsmokers. Selfie was a horrible song.. but then they redeemed themselves this year. Closer is probably in my top 10 favorite songs of the year. Don't Let Me Down was also amazing.. I just look forward to more from this duo.

Britney Spears- Finally Brit came out with a new album called Glory this year and it was everything... You could actually hear her singing and she experimented with so many different types of music. My favorites off the album are Slumber Party, Man on the Moon, Liar, Clumsy ugh it's just all so good!

Ariana Grande- I know hate is a strong word but I am not a huge fan of Ariana Grande, but her music is pretty stellar this year. Dangerous Woman album is always playing on my spotify.

Displaying IMG_0135.JPG
Twenty One Pilots-   They remind me of such a throwback band, kinda like 311 where they incorporate hip hop into alternative rock but also a little reggae. Stressed Out and Ride are awesome but Heathens was the one that took the cake.

Machine Gun Kelly and Camila Cabello- Bad Things is probably in my top 5 favorite songs of the year. I don't know what it is but it's a magical song.

Fitz and the Tantrums-  I have heard of this band but never really listened to their music until HandClap came out and it was fabulous!

Daya- I loved Hideaway and Sit, Still Look Pretty. I look forward to hearing more from her

Alan Walker- Faded is probably one of the top songs of 2016 for me, it's one of those songs that's so epic when you hear it. Ugh, so good!

 Displaying IMG_0136.JPG
Honorable Mentions: Former Boy Band Members!!
Justin Timberlake- Can't Stop The Music was the song of the Summer... it was huge.
Zayn- Pillow Talk is just a good song. Like I Would is also a great song but not as huge as Pillow  Talk. His duet with Taylor will probably be a favorite in 2017
Nick Jonas- Close is just... Okay I don't know why I'm honorably mentioning this song because it's prob again in my top 10 songs of the year. It's so good!

STYLE ICONS

Blake Lively- Let's be real, it was very hard to narrow down my favorite looks from Blake. I have to say #1 was the gorgeous light blue princess dress from Cannes but honestly everything I have seen her in this year has just worked all the way from her hair to her shoes. Girlfriend is pregnancy/maternity goals.

MAKEUP

  • Primer: Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer- I love this stuff, I have dry skin and it's really moisturizing and the coconut water helps soothe redness when I have it.

  • Foundation: Bliss Exglowsion- I have been really into the glowy foundations/complexion and this foundation was so light and perfect for summer. It's more of a water based serum and never makes me look cakey
  • Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape- This concealer is no joke. it covers anything and everything.
  • Highlight- Aside from Colourpop highlighters which I enjoy all of them.. I have been really enjoying the Makeup Geek X Kathleen Lights Highlighting Palette and the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit called Gleam
  •   Mascaras: Benefit Roller Lash and The Balm Mad Lash
  • Palette: Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette and Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance, I love both of these. I also love my newly Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts palette, those foils are gorgeous!

  •   Brushes: Real Techniques Miracle Sponge- I loved my beauty blender but this one is such an affordable option I would buy these over the original

FRAGRANCES

  • Private Show by Britney Spears: Floral/Fruity Gourmand with notes of Coffee and Dulce De Leche, Nectarine and Jasmine.
  •  Ari by Ariana Grande:Fruity Floral with Marshmallow accord
  • Ri Ri by Rihanna: Sweet Floral Fruity
  HAIR
  • Ouai Wave Spray: I loved using this stuff in the Summer, especially when I want to put my hair in braids and then I spray it in my hair and take out the braids it gives an awesome wave to my poker straight hair.
  • Dry Bar Blonde Ale: I really love this shampoo and conditioner, it really helps to maintain the blonde in my hair and keep the brassy at bay
  • Dry Bar Detox: This dry shampoo is awesome! It smells really clean and doesn't seem to leave a white residue in my hair. It makes it look light and clean
  • Dry Bar  Bay Breeze Hydrating Shots: I really need to purchase these again, I had gotten a sample from sephora and I couldn't believe how soft it made my hair and noticed that it didn't get as tangled as it usually does.

Well there you have it, these were my faves of 2016, and I wish everyone a safe and happy new year! I'm excited for what is to come :)

Smashbox Cover Shots: Christmas Look

I just recently purchased some items from the Sephora website because I just had to use my coupon. So I was looking around on the site and was intrigued by the new Smashbox Cover Shots palettes which I guess was a collaboration with Shay Mitchell, from Pretty Little Liars. I had never really tried much from Smashbox except for their Photo Finish Priming Water which I have already repurchased a million times! So I thought Christmas is coming around the bend why not get the Smoky one because it had a really pretty green and burgundy/red shade.  So obviously I decided to do a Christmas look.

I also used a new color from Colour Pop called Muse, which is a beautiful metallic burgundy shade and the Gel Creme liner in Maybe which is a nice grassy green shade.

Here's My Look:

Quick Halloween Looks

We are way past Halloween and just got through Thanksgiving but I do have some Halloween looks. I was pretty boring this year, I didn't know what I was going to be and I didn't go out for Halloween. I decided on a night off that I was going to dress up as Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad, because c'mon it's the top Halloween look this year and Margot Robbie is awesome so I just had to...

On actual Halloween I did a nice orange look using the Morphe 350 Matte and Shimmer Palettes and then I used  Colourpop Metallic lip in Flitter on top of an orange lippie which I forgot what it was...

Here's the looks:

The Muse on 5th Avenue

I am a huge fan of the Anastasia palettes, I have collected most of them and still use all of them. The Master Palette by Mario is just as good. The only issue I have is that there isn't a light enough brow highlight shade, but other than that it's a home run. Muse is probably one of my favorite shades and the ABH shadows just blend beautifully, the mattes I never find to be chalky or have no pigment.

I really wanted to do a smoky look but more of a reverse smoky eye, where it's more smoky on the lower lash line and I paired this look with Times Square from Colourpop, which is a dark beige-pink on me but I really liked the way everything turned out.

Here's my look:

Here's what I used:

EYES
  • Base- Cargo HD Picture Perfect Primer
  • Lid- Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario in Muse and then in the middle of the lid I used 5th Avenue.
  • Crease- Lula as my transition shade then I darkened the outer crease with Violeta
  • Highlight- Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance in Tempura
  • Liner- On the waterline I used Colourpop liner in Get Paid, then on the lower lash line I used Lula, Violeta and  NYC. I used 5th Avenue in the inner corner
  • Mascara- Urban Decay Perversion
CHEEKS
  •  Primer- Becca Backlight Priming Filter
  • Foundation- Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless
  • Concealer- Tarte Shape Tape
  • Blush- Colourpop Birthday Suit and Too Faced Love Flush blush in Baby Love
  • Highlight- Anastasia Beverly Hills Gleam Glow Kit in Crushed Pearl
  • Contour- Elf Contour Kit
LIPS
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte in Times Square

Urban Decay Full Spectrum: Purples

I'm thinking I might do looks based on each color in the Urban Decay Full Spectrum palette. All the colors of the rainbow should be represented! This time around I played with the purples in the palette to complement one of my new lip shades Femme, which is a really nice purple, the ColourPop site calls it a dirty lilac shade, which would be spot on.  Again because the palette did not have transition shades I used the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette.

Here's my look:

Here's what I used:

EYES
  • Base- Cargo HD Picture Perfect Primer
  • Lid- Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette in Delirious and Sketch with Faded in the middle of the lid. In the outer portion I used Too Faced Totally Cute palette in Meow.
  • Crease-Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics in Nudie, Instinct and Lethal in the outer corner
  • Highlight- UD Naked Ultimate Basics in Blow
  • Liner- On top I used Kat Von D liquid liner in Trooper, On the bottom I used Faded and Sketch with Delirious in the outer portion. In the inner corner I used Makeup Geek X Kathleen Lights Palette in Star Light
  • Mascara- Urban Decay Perversion
CHEEKS
  • Primer- Becca Backlight Priming Filter
  • Foundation- Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless
  • Concealer- Tarte Shape Tape
  • Blush- ColourPop in Pegacorn
  • Highlight- Makeup Geek X Kathleen Lights Palette in Star Light
  •  Contour- Elf Contour Palette
LIPS
  • ColourPop Ultra Satin in Femme

Urban Decay Full Spectrum: Greens

I was waiting for the Urban Decay Full Spectrum palette to be released for a while because I wanted to spend my 10 dollar UD kickback on something that's worth my while and as soon as they put up, it was added to my cart, no question.  Urban Decay already had a Spectrum palette that I missed out on for last holiday I believe and I debated on that one and another palette, I also wanted the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette, because I have never tried her eye shadows (still haven't) but that thing sold out so fast. Needless to say I was happy Urban Decay did another version that had more of a variety of colors.

I immediately gravitated to the Hatter shade and knew I wanted to do a look with it so I just incorporated all of the greens in as well.  The only thing I don't like about the palette is there's really no transition shade like a mid tone brown so I had to also pull in my Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette just for some transition colors and a nice brow highlight which the Full Spectrum palette also does not have.

On my lips I used the color Gypsy from Colour Pop which is now called Calypso, it's a beautiful pinky-nude shade

Here's my look:

EYES
  • Primer- Cargo HD Picture Perfect Primer
  •  Lid- Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette in Hatter, with Hundred in the outer portion and Mean in the inner portion.
  •  Crease- Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette in Nudie and Tempted and Hundred
  • Highlight- Blow
  • Liner- Colour Pop liner in Fast Lane on the top and water line. I used Colour Pop Telepathy on the lower lash line and Makeup Geek Voltage in the inner corner
  •  Mascara- Urban Decay Perversion

CHEEKS
  • Primer- Too Faced Hangover RX
  •  Foundation- Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless
  •  Concealer- Tarte shape tape
  • Contour- Elf Contour Palette
  • Highlight-  Makeup Geek X Kathleen Lights in Night Light

LIPS
  • Colour Pop Ultra Satin in Gypsy

Totally Cute!

Too Faced is one of my favorite brands, especially when it comes to eye shadow palettes. They recently came out with their fall collection a few months again and they released a new palette called Totally Cute and yes as the name would suggest it's totally cute!  The palette came with couple sheets of stickers where you can customize your own palette.

  • Lid- TF Totally Cute palette in Shooting Star with Chocolate Dounut in the outer portion

Balm appetite!

Have you ever seen a palette that you had to have, not because of the product or the colors, but the names of the products? Well I am a huge sucker for palettes or eye shadows with funny or pop culture inspired names and The Balm just came out with the cutest palette I have seen! It's called the Balm Appetite palette and in true Balm fashion they have another palette with guys on them but it's not the reason why I wanted this palette. it's the names of the shadows especially if one was called Chris P. Bacon or Hal Apeno-Popper.. see where I'm going with this? Pun names based on food, genius!

Colour Pop Fall Edit

We are already into November and I am once again so behind on my posts, I recently got full time at my other job so things have been gotten delayed, but never fear I am back with some more looks that scream fall. Colour Pop came out with their new fall line and they surprised people with a whole slew of new products. This look is inspired by the Fall edit #1 which is dusty plums and purples. Tang is one of my favorite colors in this collection and it goes perfect with the new Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette and I have to say it's a pretty nice dupe for the shade Buon Fresco, if you couldn't get your hands on this palette. I also used Stereo which is a pretty darkened burgundy with bronze and
pinky sparkles, this shade was a re-release from the 90's collection from last fall.  For the lippie I used Dukes, which is a gorgeous matte blackened berry shade.

Another new product I used was the Tarte Shape Tape concealer, which took me forever to get, this little bugger was sold out constantly.. and I can see why. It's amazing! Very pigmented but not thick, and covers areas like a dream.

Here's my look:

Here's what I used:

Rose Gold Foiled Look

OMG you guys this is it! We are into the last few months coming up to Christmas.. I can not believe how fast this year has flown by! Working in retail is such a funny thing around the holidays because it's not even Halloween yet and already we have Halloween stuff, then one other section of Thanksgiving themed items and then in the back we already have the Christmas trees!  haha  Well with the anticipation of Christmas ahead, we have already started getting in all of our holiday makeup sets... LORAC was one of the first to be received and OMG the packaging is beautiful!! All of their packing and compacts are a beautiful rose gold finish, which makes them look luxurious and expensive and just some really nice pieces that look fancy on a vanity or desk.

Now this first item is the Lorac Pro Metal Palette, it is not new but it's been re promoted for the holidays in a gorgeous rose gold metallic packaging! I picked this up because our store did not receive the original metal palette when it was originally launched in stores. The shades on this palette are stunning, just like all Lorac shadows they can be worn wet or dry,  I usually wet mine with a setting spray to give it that extra bit of metallic sheen.

Also a new product from Pur that is knocking my socks off is their Elevation Highlight Palette... seriously... I mean look at that..   This I believe is a Kohl's exclusive because I could not find any information on the official Pur site, and I know that Pur has no idea who I am but please make Altitude a permanent shade because it is gorgeous!! If you could just make the whole palette permanent that would be even more fantastic!!!

Another new item that is also a Kohl's exclusive, is the Social Affair Alter Ego Lip Stick set which includes 5 unreleased colors, and I am obsessed with them already!! The color I chose today is Fashionista with a beautiful rose brown shade.

Here's my look:

Frost Yourself

I've really been loving the Metal palette from Lorac, and I wanted to do more of a cool toned look incorporating the cobalt shade. So all in all it got very frosty kinda like something you would see in Frozen. I thought it looked cool and I wanted to use another new Lorac lip stick from their Rose and Revelry collection called Trendsetter, which is a beautiful mauve/nude shade.. and of course the Pur Elevation highlighter palette in Altitude. Love Your Selfie 2

Another awesome palette arrived at work and I have been waiting to get my hands on this palette for a while now, dang all those persuasive Youtubers, I'm talking about the Love Your Selfie 2 palette by Pur Cosmetics.  What's really convenient about this palette is you not only get eye shadow but like the original Love Your Selfie palette it comes with a powder, bronzer, and highlight. It also comes with a lip gloss and a mascara. Except now you also get a velvet matte lip pencil in the newest palette.

I really enjoy the colors in this palette, mainly Mega Pixel and Abstract. In the palette you get 3 mattes and 5 shimmers. The shade in Overexposed is confusing to me because they say it's a "Baking Powder" but I guess I would classify this as a more natural glowy sheen to the face then a baking powder. I always think of a baking powder being more like a loose powder.   The bronzer shade Composition is very orange on me, I have to use very light hand, or use it as a blush. Then we get to Photogenic which is claiming to be a highlight.. which is way too dark for my skin so I've been using it as a blush topper, it's a very pretty shade though.

L to R: Headshot, Statuesque, Panorama, Abstract.

R to L: Pose, Sketch, Megapixel, Paparazzi

R to L: Overexposed,Photogenic and Composition

There's also a mini fully charged mascara, which I love the full size, this one is okay.. I feel like the brush is different, but the formula is awesome. A lip gloss in Silhouette, which is a nice berry shade and a Velvet Lip Pencil in Focal Point. which pairs nicely with the gloss and feels nice on the lips.

This look reminded me of the changing of the leaves because Fall is here!!! :)

Here's the look:

EYES
  • Base- Cargo HD
  • Lid- Megapixel, and Sketch
  • Crease- Statuesque with Sketch
  • Highlight- Headshot
  • Liner- Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper, On the lower lash line I used Sketch and Abstract. I also used Cargo Swimmables liner in Dorado Beach in the water line

  • Foundation- Bliss Exglowsion Foundation
  • Concealer- Bliss Secret Under Cover

Sookie

Can I just say the minute I found out that there was a lip color called Sookie, as a True Blood fan I had to have it... Any makeup that is named after any tv show or tv show characters that I love I am sold. Please take my money!!  I just bough a Catrice shadow on the Ulta website because it was called Satina Van Der Woodsen... come on! I needed that in my life!!

Getting back to the look, Sookie is a beautiful berry shade and it worked nicely while I paired it with the shades in the ABH palette. I just adore these fall shades!

Taylor inspired? Berry lip

I was not expecting to be inspired by Taylor's Met Gala look, subconsciously I was I guess.. lol   I really wanted to use one of the new Colour Pop colors from the first Fall Edit collection. Hutch was such a beautiful fall shade, definitely vampy but I didn't want to have a heavy eye look with a dark, almost black lip so I used a lot of light lavender shades to balance out the look and when I was looking at the final product I thought "this looks kinda like Taylor Swift's Met Gala look" so yeah I can see where the inspiration came from... I have also been loving the Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette, it is just so good you guys! Most of the shades are warmer but you can also get some cool looks with Buon Fresco which is one of my favorite shades to use.

Where the Night Is

This was a look that I did a while back, but I never had the chance to take any pictures, so with it being a perfect fall look I felt the need to add it to my blog. This look was using half of the Colour Pop X Kathleen Lights 'Where the Night is' Quad and I honestly just love this collection! Weenie is a beautiful rose gold shade and Porter is a gorgeous rich burgundy shade. I paired it with the new Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics palette to add some nice matte shades to use for a transition shade.

I also used the Colour Pop Ultra Glossy Lips in Weho, which is probably one of the best formulas for a lip gloss I have ever used. Weho is a really nice beige-nude shade, really comfortable on the lips and non-sticky.

Here's my look:

Here's what I used:

EYES
  • Base- Cargo HD Picture Perfect Primer
  • Lid- Colour Pop in Weenie in the inner to middle portion of the lid with Porter in the outer portion
  • Crease- UD Ultimate Naked Basics Palette in Extra Bitter, and Colour Pop in Porter
  • Highlight- Ultimate Naked Basics Palette in Blow
  • Liner- On top I used Colour Pop liner in Best O, then on the bottom lash line I used Weenie in the inner to middle portion with Porter in the outer portion with Best O in the waterline. I also used Makeup Geek Duo Chrome shadow in Mai Tai and Urban Decay X Gwen blush palette in OC on the inner corner of the eyes.
