Christina Aguilera: The Voice Knock Out Rounds

One of my favorite parts of The Voice is the Knock Out rounds because unlike the Battle Rounds you get to hear what kind of artist the contestants want to be so it's always interesting to hear what direction they take with a song. I feel like the Battle Rounds are mainly for the coaches to see what type of artist they want them to be as opposed to who they are. Christina's look was pretty toned down but still classic Christina with the signature red lip and a semi graphic crease color. I used my NYX High Voltage Lip Color in Rockstar, I love how moisturizing and also how pigmented these lip colors are and I bought quite a bundle of these lippies so you will be seeing a swatch/review on these shortly.

Here's the Look:

  • Base- Cargo HD Picture Perfect Primer
  • Lid- Too Faced Semi Sweet Palette in Coconut Creme

Movie Premiere: Rihanna "Home"

I debated whether or not I was going to do this look, but Riri looked absolutely gorgeous in the makeup department and while we are still in the transition from Winter to Spring, the dark lip is still trending so I thought why not, and clearly we are not the same complexion, I tried to make it work the best I could. The star of my look is the highly raved over NYX Soft Lip Matte Cream in Copenhagen, a beautiful dark berry color and I also used my brand new baby, the Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Palette to complete my look.

Jennifer Lopez: American Idol 90's look

Break out your crop tops and your tattoo necklaces cause the 90's are back!! I spent my childhood in the 90's and it was awesome!!  Yes I am one of those who think their childhood was better than everyone elses because lets face it the nineties were amazing.. (yeah you know I click on any buzz feed article that pops up about it.. ) or maybe nostalgia clouds my judgement.. either way I was not old enough the wear makeup besides the occasional glitter lip gloss, but I loved being inspired and doing makeovers at sleep overs.

Looking back at photos of Cindy Crawford, Pam Anderson and Gwen Stefanie to name a few, I cringed because why would you want such a dark heavy line around your mouth? It didn't look good then and when I heard it was coming back I thought why is this happening again?! Well when I was watching Idol I noticed this and the day before Idol when Jennifer Lopez was doing a photo call she was rocking the visible lip liner but she did it in a way that was so soft and subtle. I would call it a revamp of the horrid 90's lip liner, so I commend her MUA Mary Phillips for bringing back a dated trend so flawlessly.

Jennifer Lopez: American Idol "Feel The Light" Performance Makeup

Let's just get this out of the way right now, Jennifer Lopez is a flawless creature and she can do no wrong..  I was in awe of her "Feel The Light" performance on American Idol last week, not only her makeup but her dress.. her dress was amazing because of the way the lights played off of it, I loved when Carrie did it at the 2013 Grammy Awards and I love when J.Lo did it. So now I have to get into her makeup, that fantastic sparkle makeup of blues and golds (which remind me of my school colors... ) and then just a nice glossy nude lip. She also had glitter on the side of her face to create a gorgeous ethereal highlight which I opted not to do because I had to work so I made this look wearable for everyday, but you could totally go all out with the sparkles like Jen did.

Movie Inspired: Insurgent

I have yet to see Insurgent and I fully intend to see it because I loved the first film of the Divergent series. I actually prefer it more to than the Hunger Games and Shailene sold me after The Fault in Our Stars. So here's a look into the inner workings of my brain, because I have wanted to do a look based on the Insurgent poster with a feel of gunmetal grey and then a piercing bright blue and when I have a look that I want to do, I usually obsess about it in my head until it comes to fruition. lol I may just be a weirdo but that's how I work.. also I should note I tried to attempt to style my hair like Tris in the second film.. that was at least my intention.

Here's the inspiration:

Christina Aguilera: The Voice Battle Rounds

I have been really feeling the Christina Aguilera Voice looks this season, I have especially been getting into ones with bronze cheeks and nude lips. There's something kinda fresh about that minimalistic look of not wearing a lot of makeup, but we all know it takes a lot of makeup to achieve the no makeup look! I really loved how her skin was just glowing and her eye makeup steered a little more on the natural side and I'm also really feeling my Too Faced Bonjour Soleil palette that I had just purchased and it's been a lot of fun recreating those flawless glow looks.

A Little Luck of the Irish!

This year for St. Paddy's day I wanted to do a look that was inspired by mint chocolate, and I have been in a huge baking mood and all of the desserts I have come across were something with mint and chocolate. I even made a Bailey's chocolate cheesecake this year which scored very high with my co workers and it was the first time I have ever bought alcohol for myself, so that was kinda weird...

Jennifer Lopez: American Idol Top 12 Guys

This is the start to a series of  Jennifer Lopez inspired looks. I have been watching this season in awe because her makeup artist Mary Phillips really knocks it out of the park every week. This look I have been searching to find what type of products Mary used to complete this glorious pink smokey eye so that I could purchase this item but no such luck on finding the product so I had to improvise. Colour Pop makes amazing pigmented shadows and so I mixed two of their super shock shadows in this recreation, Fantasy and Drifter and I think I got pretty close to the end results.

Christina Aguilera: The Voice Blind Auditions

I am so excited that Christina is back judging on The Voice! Growing up I was greatly influenced by Christina Aguilera's music and her voice. She is a legend in her own right, that's for sure.. I am enjoying this mix of judges as well.. Blake and Adam are so much fun, then you have Pharrell who is quiet and confident and he is very knowledgeable and I love how he just stares at the singers in wonderment and then you have Christina with her powerhouse vocals and her gorgeous makeup every week and the Blinds have been no exception with her signature red lip she paired it with a pretty neutral eye with a graphic crease and lots of black liner. She also had a very bronzy look so I wanted to make my look very golden goddess. It's a look that I just couldn't put out of my mind and I had to re-create.

Cinderella Premiere: Lily James

I have a confession to make... I am OBSESSED with Lily James!  Seriously... her dress at the red carpet premiere was everything. That Elie Saab gown was such a stunner with every detail, the beading, the floral applique, the pockets. Even her accessories were on point with the theme of the movie, the Charlotte Olympia clock clutch and of course those glorious Christian Louboutin crystal encrusted heels. My gushing wouldn't be complete without saying something about her makeup, it was so fresh! So bright and springy, and boy aren't we all wishing for spring to come? She was such the modern day princess..

Oscars 2015: Lady Gaga

I'm almost done with my Oscars Series, I have one more after this inspired by Anna Kendrick, but today the makeup look was inspired by Lady Gaga. I have to be honest that I didn't like her outfit especially the red gloves but it was a look that screamed Lady Gaga so I wouldn't expect her in anything less.. however I did love her Sound of Music performance, she did a stellar job and really showcased how talented she is. The look consisted of pink glittery eye and a bright red lip. Her makeup artist Sara Tanno, used all Nars products to complete her look.

Oscars 2015: Jennifer Lopez

My absolute favorite look of the Oscars was none other than Miss Jennifer Lopez in her stunning Elie Saab princess gown. It was everything!! She was such a glowing goddess who really did show the up and comers how it was done. She also had a really pretty coral/pink shadow and a light pink lip that I knew I had to re-create. Her makeup artist Mary Phillips used all L'oreal Paris products, including the Miss Manga Black Angel Mascara, Pro-last color in Timeless Rose, and the new, unreleased Colour Riche La PaletteNude. I know that J.Lo and I do not have the same skin tone but I wanted to try and duplicate that glowy skin and bright pink lip that complementary to my skin tone.
